Emberfall Chronicle
Emberfall Chronicle is the kind of RPG that actually bothers with writing. You lead a small band of exiles across a dying kingdom, and the dialogue choices aren't just flavour — turn on one companion early and they really do leave your party for good. That consistency gives the whole thing weight.
Combat is turn-based with a position system, so where you place a fighter matters as much as what skill you use. Leveling is generous without being mindless; you earn enough to experiment with builds but not so much that fights stop mattering. The touch controls handle the grid well, which is rare for this genre on a phone.
My only complaint is the early pacing — the first hour is heavy on tutorials. Push past it and there's a genuinely good 20-hour story waiting.
What we liked
- Choices with real consequences
- Thoughtful turn-based combat
- Strong writing for a mobile RPG
